About the Author
Yves Dejean was born in Port-au-Prince in 1927. Since 1953 he has been interested in tales told by rural storytellers. Between 1964 and 1969 he recorded many beautiful tales in fifty different places in Haiti. He obtained a Ph.D. in linguistics in 1977. As a university professor he trained teachers in three universities in New York City (1974-1986) and at the State University of Haiti since October 1986. He has written many books and articles on Haitian Creole and Education.
