Amazon.com Review
Even non-teddy bear fans will love this fresh version of a classic nursery song. Beautifully photographed by David Ellwand, the big board book features 10 old-fashioned plush teddy bears that "Roll over! Roll over!" until nine of them have fallen out of bed, leaving the littlest one by himself and, to his surprise, lonely. In a friendly twist on the original, the small bear, rather than saying "Good night!" invites his neighbors back in: "So they all jumped up and got back in... There were 10 in the bed and the little one said, "Night, night!" Ellwand's clever design portrays the bears in different poses—-crossed arms, turned heads, flipped bodies--on each page, making it seem as though even their expressions change. The spreads are divided between the white bed on the left and the pastel background on the right, on which the ousted teddies tumble. Toddlers will enjoy counting down from 10, and watching the space allotted the bed shrink while the right side grows to accommodate the falling bears. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter
From Publishers Weekly
Teddy bears feature prominently in two photographic books by David Ellwand, Ten in the Bed: A Counting Book and Clap Your Hands: An Action Book. Tucked-in Teddies reach across the opening pages of the first title, but as the bears fall out, they appear against increasingly larger pastel panels on the right. In the second, the bears play along to the popular preschool song ("If you're happy and you know it clap your hands"). (May)

From School Library Journal
PreSchool-These oversized board books are based on traditional children's songs. In Clap, teddy bears demonstrate the various actions of the song: they stamp their feet, touch their toes, turn around, etc. In Ten, each spread depicts a variety of appealing teddy bears photographed under a white blanket. As each one "rolls over," it falls onto a pastel background on the right. As the number in bed shrinks, the pink, blue, yellow, lavender, or green panel on the right grows wider as more bears join the group. Ellwand depicts the stuffed animals in different poses on each page: heads turned, arms raised, and even reading in bed. The size and uncluttered format of these books make them appropriate for baby, toddler, and preschool storytimes. Guaranteed to delight young listeners.

A great board book
I first encountered this book during story time at the library. My 3 year old fell in love with it so we checked it out. Much to my delight, our one year old loved it too so we all read it together (or sing it together). It's fun! The book is great for early math too ... How many are still in the bed? How many are on the floor? Are there the same number of bears on the bed as on the floor? Which has more?. We have read the book over and over again. Alas, the book is due back to the library tomorrow but we all liked it so much that I'm ordering one for add to our own library. Highly recommended! Happy reading!
Great counting book
This is a book I read to my son at night. It is very repetitive and easy for babies or toddlers. A great first read to introduce counting.
