Hayden Tate suddenly found herself in a world unlike any other, when she inherited half of an inn nestled away on Cat Island in the Bahamas. Expecting something like the resorts found in Nassau, Hayden was shocked and a little disappointed to find herself on a beautiful tropical island undiscovered by tourism. Hayden reluctantly begins to adapt to a simpler way of life found on the island, and her conversion is often comical.
Not only did Hayden’s aunt leave her an inn, but the company of her former business partner as well. Strange as she is beautiful, Adrienne turns Hayden’s world upside down in many ways. Hayden quickly learns that being with Adrienne will always be an adventure.
The tranquility of the island is shattered with the disappearance of a mysterious guest. Hayden and Adrienne soon find themselves at the center of a murder investigation, fearing for their own safety and the lives of their guests. Eager to rid themselves and the island of a ruthless killer, Adrienne and Hayden decide to conduct their own investigation. The eclectic mixture of guests and staff make their efforts both interesting and humorous.

Intrigue! Suspense! Romance!
Dumped by her girlfriend, Hayden Tate exacts her "revenge" and runs off to an island - to a resort she has inherited from an aunt who passed away. There she meets one Adrienne Cangelosi, her deceased aunt's seemingly aloof business partner.
Thinking Adrienne a bit unsettling, Hayden nevertheless soon finds herself strongly attracted to Adrienne and Adrienne attracted to her as they spend more and more time together. Hayden also discovers that, while the resort is both remote and beautiful, it and Adrienne hold secrets. Secrets that could be dangerous and maybe get someone killed.
When previous guests and friends of Adrienne's arrive for their yearly stay at the resort, Adrienne and Hayden find the danger begins to draw closer and closer. Who is the danger coming from and why? Will the women be able to pull together to try and unravel the mystery before someone is harmed?
The two women soon find themselves acting on their mutual attraction, and become lovers. As they begin to explore this new love, they are completely blindsided by an unexpected obstacle thrown in the mix. Someone from one of their pasts has arrived on the island and wants to claim them for their own. Will they succeed? Or will the bonds of this new relationship be strong enough to withstand the assault?
Robin Alexander offers the reader a very dynamic, intriguing and sometimes quirky tale of sun, fun, and frolic found on a tropical resort island with just the right amount of intrigue and suspense thrown in. She grabs the reader with a definitive skill and runs them through a gambit of emotions before allowing them to land in a final approach. And Robin's recently released book, Murky Waters is another fine example of the skill and talent displayed Gloria's Inn.
Wacky Cross-Genre Romance with some Dangerous Intrigue
When Hayden Tate's aunt Gloria dies and leaves her niece half interest in an island inn in the Bahamas, Hayden is ready for a change. She's ready to leave her lawn and landscaping business behind, especially since her girlfriend has dumped her for a woman who Hayden says looks like a Saints linebacker. Hayden tells us, "I gave that woman the best year and a half of my life, and she did this to me. Not to mention that she took half my wardrobe and most of my CD collection with her when she left" (p. 14). In retaliation, Hayden plays one last naughty trick on the ex by leaving her a special "treat" in her car. (I can still smell the odor of cat excrement.) In her defense Hayden says, "I know what I did was disgusting and childish, but the woman broke my heart. Not to mention she was in possession of my entire Melissa Etheridge collection. That alone was grounds enough" (p. 14).
Just the first few pages of this book will tell the reader that the narrator has a wacky sense of humor and that what's in store is going to be a funny romp. And indeed it is. The descriptions and events of the book made me laugh out loud at times.
Hayden flies in to Cat Island, meets the co-owner, Adrienne, and promptly falls for the tall woman. Adrienne has a few secrets she'd rather not reveal-like the fact that at times she happens to hear other people's thoughts. This makes for some pretty funny stuff. Before Hayden and Adrienne have even started to get to know one another, a load of guests-women who come for a holiday together every year-show up, and it's gangbusters. I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but this one's a romance and a comedy and a drama - with some snakes and scary intrigue thrown in for thrills and chills. Entertaining and recommended for anyone wanting a light-hearted and humorous read. ~Lori L.
