Product Description

What happens when the man you left suddenly becomes the man you need? Richard and Dave have a past together, but back then they couldn't give each other what they needed. They were too young, too unsure. When they meet again, it's both awkward and wonderful. Richard is far more confident now, and he knows he can be the sort of lover Dave requires. He's learned a lot over the years, letting his own insecurities go. Which means he can take on Dave's. Dave has some secrets that might blow up in their faces, though, including a man whose obsession leads to danger and heartache. He retreats into his music, trying to keep Richard safe from his demons, but Richard won't let him hide. Not anymore. Richard is determined to prove that Dave is a wonderful man, and one worthy of love. When violence and fear threaten to tear them apart, Dave has to learn to trust Richard to protect him, and Richard has to believe that Dave will trust him. They have to learn to work together to make their own life, one that leaves the past behind. Can these two blend music and metal into something beautiful?

Deeply Moving M/M BDSM!5
This deeply moving BDSM from Mike is one absorbing, arousing and stirring read. It is not consumed by sex as in most gay erotica but it is a story with a heart.
Dave is a badly abused victim in a previous BDSM partnership. His suffering at the hands of an abusive and obsessive partner simply tugs at my heart.
Dave needs and certainly deserves to be loved and nurtured and Richard is just the very Dom to do that. The fact that Dave and Richard were former lovers before they broke up and ventured into the BDSM world gives more substance to their later Dom/Sub relationship.
Add to that a tightly paced and gripping plot, Music and Metal is captivating and certaintly this writer's best effot to-date and the title is most fitting.

Music and Metal 5
Richard is at his usual hangout, having a drink, when someone from his past walks in. Years ago Richard didn't know what to do when Dave wanted to be tied up, but Richard's more confident now. He still finds Dave very attractive, and invites him home.

Dave is very happy to see Richard, who he never forgot. When Richard wants to try again, so does he. Unfortunately, Dave has a terrible secret in his past that doesn't want to stay in the past. Will Dave and Richard be able to make it work this time?

Music and Metal was an enjoyable, multi-faceted story. There was romance, BDSM, and suspense. There was also a big shot of melodrama, but even that was enjoyable as it was enough to be interesting without being ridiculous or over-the-top. Normally, BDSM isn't really my thing, but in this book the BDSM was very well-written and came across as loving rather than controlling. Richard was an ideal top in my mind. He liked to be in control, but used his control to increase Dave's pleasure rather than his own. Dave was a flighty musician who was insecure about himself due to horrific events in his past. I liked the way he grew stronger and more self-assured under Richard's care. It was especially admirable given his truly chilling past. The suspense angle of the book was well-done and didn't fizzle out--in fact it ended in a rather explosive climax(which is where the melodrama came in). With hot, tender love scenes, two great heroes, and suspense, Mike Shade has written quite a page-turner!

Devotion and Torture4
Dave and Richard had been lovers and mostly happily so, but Dave needed more than Richard could give him (some light BDSM), so they broke up ... and both regretted it afterward. When they met years later, Richard was an experienced, but unsatisfied/unhappy Dom, and Dave was recovering from a devasting experience with a Dom who thought his job was to torture and stalk his sub. Richard quickly won back Dave's heart with surprisingly gentle and persistent loving, touching, nurturing, even when nurturing required use of handcuffs, a paddle, or light (and consensual) bondage. Richard almost lost his honey by not revealing an important conversation with one of Dave's close friends, Robin, but Dave didn't help things by hiding a scary stalker in his own background. After a few scary scenes, all's well that ended well.

Some hot, great sex scenes, some lovely, passionate romance, some scary suspense, two wonderful main characters (and a couple of rather interesting minor ones as well), this book is worth a read. I gave it four stars, but four and a half might be a more accurate evaluation. Go for it if you're looking for romance and some hot sex, though you may be disappointed if you are looking for hard core BDSM (lots of butt spanking, handcuffs, but not much else; Richard "tortured" Dave mostly with his kisses and his loving and a few hot spankings before sex).
