Personal Best
Jessy is a swimming coach. He arrives at UT when the team coach asks
him to consider privately coaching Mike, an elite swimmer. Jessy and
Mike hit it off and are soon training together. As part of his
coaching, Mike moves in with Jessy. As the men get to know each other,
a deep attraction is growing between them.

After too much excess on his birthday, Mike needs Jessy's help.
Jessy's help becomes the beginning of a very passionate and loving
relationship. Jessy is a tough coach and a wonderful lover. When both
their personal and professional relationship is put to the test, Mike
and Jessy will need to give everything they have to come back together
and help Mike achieve his personal best.

The sensual flirting between Mike and Jessy in Personal Best is so
sexy. I was eager as a pup waiting for their first touch! These men
are maddeningly erotic and loving together. Some of the acts that
bring Mike sexual gratification are pretty intense. Jessy makes it
loving, but it may be extreme for some. I just adore Jessy and Mike.
Every touch, every kiss, had me desperate for more. With it's
interesting storyline and huge sex appeal, Personal Best goes for the
gold!

Tough coach and pliant student
Jesse is an older tough professional swimming coach, Mike a nineteen year old orphan and a born swimmer. When Jesse takes Mike on full time it turns out to more than just as his trainer. Part of the deal is that Mike moves in to live with Jesse; the two men soon fall in love.

Well written as one expects of Sean Michael, the story really centres around the love affair, with the swimming aspect playing a very poor second. I found this a little disappointing; I would have loved to see the swimming, and all the possibilities that pools and changing rooms could afford, playing a bigger role. The two characters are appealing, Jesse as the tough no nonsense coach, and Mike the slightly naïve and very bubbly youngster. But too much of the story is devoted to the rather repetitive M/M action, and not enough to the plot; even the initial seduction is far too easy. On the other hand if you like lots of hot and occasionally dominant action, then you won't be disappointed.

I purchased this along with the sequel, Personal Best 2; it will be interesting to see how Sean Michael develops the story.
