Superb!
This is by far the best adaptation ever made! True to the text with stellar performances by the entire cast. In our opinion this is the best performance ever done by the great Anthony Hopkins. My VHS version has worn out because we have made a family tradition of watching it together every Christmas. I cannot understand why this not out on DVD!

Great Teaching Help
As a freshman English teacher, I was looking for a teaching tool to help make Great Expectations become "real" to my students. This film was a great tool because it followed the novel so closely. We were able to read a block of chapters, complete study questions on that block, and finally watch the film version of those chapters come alive on screen. The fidelity with which the cast and crew deliver this Dickens classic are more than commendable. 5 stars from a very grateful teacher.

Re-release this video
This is by far the best version of Great Expectations that I have seen. I do not know why Disney does not have this available for purchase. It is the most faithful to the novel and has great performances.
