Possibly one of the finest instructional tapes for Tai Chi
This tape is a shining example of how instructional videos should be taught. Claire Hooton, while assisted by two of her students, leads you easily and accurately through the movements and allows you time to correct and recognize your own flaws. The movements are broken down into sets of three at a time and are given the front view by Sifu Hooton while her two students perform with their backs to you, allowing you to see how the movements look as if you were in the class. Please be sure to get the first tape of the series though as the movements will be more difficult in this tape than the first. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn Tai-Chi.
Excellent content, poor tape quality
The instructional content is excellent, as described in an earlier review here.
However, the quality of the tape itself isn't great. It's in EP mode (worst quality), and I had to adjust the tracking when it was inserted.
Unfortunately Vol 1 is not currently available through Amazon.com (as I write this).
Very good!
I own a large selection of Tai Chi videos and this as well as the Beginner's tape are by far the best. They make learning the Yang Style Short Form very easy. A Tai Chi teacher once saw me do the form could not believe I had learned from tapes. He thought I was an advanced student. The only problem is that Mrs. Hooton touches only lightly on breathing. Still the best Tai Chi tapes around. Thanks Mrs. Hooton!
