Dead Zone DVD
I had already seen this movie on Cartoon Network, and being as how I'm a DBZ enthusiast I really wanted to own it. I really thought they did a good job on making the dubbed version, the sound effect and music sound much clearer, than the original Japanese version, even if they differ from time to time. Finally they added as extras, some original sense from DBZ the series, that had been edited from the American version. And they put some nice touches in to the menu, making it all the more enjoyable. The movie was really good too, but chances are if your going to buy this you have already seen it. But if you haven't seen this movie it is a really good classic DBZ movie, action with a side of comedy, and it sets up the story for the Garlic Jr. saga.
Great dvd. Worth the money.
As said in the title, I think this is a great DVD. If watching, i advise you to put the settings on Japanese with english subtitles. The dub voices and acting is horrible. Now, here is the review. The first of the 13 DBZ movies, Deadzone (Return My Gohan in japanese) Tells of Garlic Jr., and his struggle to take over the world. He starts by collecting the dragonballs to summon the dragon Shenron. He ends up kidnapping Son Gohan, the son of Chichi and Son Goku- The worlds strongest fighter, and Goku goes on a bit of a journey on his flying cloud kintoun to rescue him. After Garlic Jr gathers the dragonballs (right after a very interesting sequence where Gohan gets drunk off some apples) he wishes or immortality. To know the rest BUY THE DVD. Oh, and the extras are great for those sheltered from the japanese episodes (me ;_;). There are four clips that weren't shown on Dub Dragonball Z. 2 are from pisode one and two are most of episode 9 (only about 12% of episode nine was shown on Dub DBZ). But, just to sum everything up, buy the DVD. You shouldn't regret it but only in minor ways. I gave it a four because they could have done better with the subtitles. Kinda hard to read.
Dragonballz
For being an American version, I would have to give this a very good rating. I recommand you get the jap. version of this (the english one is very edited and censored). Its pretty short but has lots and lots of action. Usually The only people who complain about this movie is the parents who use a tv as a babysitter. This video is ment for mature teens and up. Not a gift you'd like to give to a 9 year old kid on his birthday, but something to watch when you want your creative juices flowing. I can tell you this involves people gathering energy, martial arts combat, and an incredible plot. Just dont try to shoot your friends with an energy ball. The only thing I didn't like was that this movie is pretty short. The main enemy (Garlic Jr) is really cool, watch who beats him at the end.. you might just be devistated. The message I got out of this was.. becareful what you wish for.
