Product Description

For over a quarter century, Kiss has shaped the face of popular music and rock culture. The "Kiss Alive Worldwide" tour saw the rebirth of rock's most incredible band. Who are these masked men and where did they come from? What did it take to reclaim their title as "The Hottest Band in the World?" After 18 years apart, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, Peter Criss and Gene Simmons overcame their past differences, finally reuniting the powerhouse original Kiss lineup that wrote rock and roll legend. This is Kiss and this is their story.

Kiss: The Second Coming is a band-sanctioned hagiography focusing on the profit-minded 1996 tour that found the '70s heavy-metal icons back in full-bore makeup and costumes for a time-trip back to their Alive II heyday. At 122 minutes, Second Coming is an hour too long for all but die-hard devotees, and peaks with its opening recap of the band's early fire-breathing years. After that, it's a quick run-through of good-days-gone-bad clichés before the long haul of backstage shots and gee-it's-great-to-be-back-on-the-playground testimonials takes over. Little insight is present, though there is a bit of comic myth-mocking during a sequence demonstrating the inflation of the stage show's gargantuan inflatable figures of Gene, Paul, Peter, and Ace. Three tour performances, including music videos for "Detroit Rock City" and "Shout It Out Loud," alleviate the boredom. --Rickey Wright

KISS: THE SECOND COMING Is One Of The Best KISS Documentarys5
KISS The Second Coming is the perfect video of die-hard KISS fans, and I enjoyed it too much. It's a backstage pass into the hidden world of KISS that everybody doesn't get the chance to see. We follow four men (Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss, and Ace Frehley) as form a rock group, travel into good times, and crash into the bad times. But in the end, they reunite and start a World Alive Tour, and release new albums.

An excellent documentary lacking only in concert footage!5
This is a documentary about the reunion of the hottest band in the world! After a brief review of what Kiss had done prior to their reunion, it starts with Peter Criss rejoining the band for a song at a convention. Then it leads to the Unplugged concert with both Peter and Ace Frehley joining the band and continues to follow KISS through out their re-union tour. It ends with promotions for what will be the KISS' Psycho Circus CD. Most buyers will be disappointed with the lack of concert footage but you can get plenty of that with Kissology Volume I (1974 - 1977). If you don't have Kissology Volume I (1974 - 1977), I strongly recommend getting it first. Kissology Volume I (1974 - 1977) definitely rocks! Anyway, if you love the original KISS, this DVD is still a worth while investment. It is great seeing this documentation of Gene, Paul, Peter and Ace getting together again and the reaction of KISS fans through out the world.

Note: This DVD contains some footage that may not be appropriate for children.

Finally, a KISS video that's longer than 90 minutes!5
I've been a KISS fan for almost 16 years, I'm 24 years old now. I have all of their videos, and this is one of their best! It takes you from the first meeting of the original band(MTV Unplugged) to the band putting on the outfits and makeup at Gene's house. Talk about "behind-the-scenes" footage! I love the three extra songs that were added for the DVD! The only compliant is: They keep showing KISS rehearsing "Deuce" over and over! That got boring fast!
