Powerful Picture Book
The Czech city of Pilsen was the site of the dramatic conclusion of World War II in Europe as the US Army vanquished the last Nazis remanents and celebrated its monumental victory. This book, "Americans in West Bohemia 1945" is based on the work of two professional Pilsen photographers. Following the Communist coup of 1948, these photos were labeled criminal and subject to confiscation in order to erase the liberation by the US Army from Czech public memory. The authors have digitally reprocessed and enhanced these pictures to restore them to their original quality and published them to celebrate Pilsen's 700th anniversary. If you love history and photographic art, you will enjoy this book.
