About the Author
Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1951, José Castello is a Master in Communication from UFRJ. Has lived in Curitiba since 1993. Castello was a reporter at Veja, head of the Rio de Janeiro branch of Istoé, editor of Jornal do Brasil and columnist at O Estado de S. Paulo. Has organized and prefaced Livro de Letras (Book of Letters) (1991) and Roteiro lírico e sentimental do Rio de Janeiro (Lyrical and Sentimental guidebook of Rio de Janeiro) (1992). Has published several books, such as O poeta da paixão (Passion Poet) (Companhia das Letras), O homem sem alma (Man without a soul) (essay on João Cabral de Melo Neto), Fantasma (Phantom), novel (ran for Prêmio Jabuti, CBL, and honorary mention at Casa de Las Américas de Cuba Award) and Melhores crônicas (Best Chronicles) / José Castello (Editora Global, 2003).
