Average customer review:Product Description
The book conveys to the reader an appreciation of Jacobsen and his work as an architect. In the 1920s, the press described Arne Jacobsen as the "leading representative" of functionalism and as "the Danish Corbusier". Ethereal elegance was Jacobsen’s hallmark throughout his career; for example his staircases, whose light construction and suspension seem to defy gravity. All Jacobsen’s significant works are described in this book. Among the works studied are Stelling’s house, the town halls, the SAS Hotel and the Danish Central Bank. Jacobsen worked as an architect and designer for almost 50 years. During this period, his professional range embraced, among other things furniture, textiles, wallpaper, lamps, porcelain, hollowware, and steel.

THE Definitive book on Arne Jacobsen
As some architectural books are only just coffee table eye candy, this book really goes leaps and bounds past such a moniker. In it's breadth and its depth, the complete Arne Jacobsen is found within these pages. History, ideology, critical examinations of his works (everything from buildings, furniture, textiles, interiors, ceramics, cutlery, etc.). It's a great book if you are looking for information on this great Danish designer.
It CAN be found in english as well as assorted other languages.
If only I bought if for myself
This book is well layed out and is the definitive source on
Jacobsen. I bought it as a gift for someone else and really would like to have a copy for myself. I was initially skeptical
because I could not find any images of it online but once it
arrived I was not dissappointed.
It includes a good deal of photos and images as well as a good
background on Jacobsen himself.
