Product Description

Packag ing is an important factor in any retail environment and a key element in most marketing strategies. Consumers react immediately to package shapes, and are influenced by them when making buying decisions. Different product categories are often easy to recognize by their characteristic form, for example chocolate boxes or milk cartons. On the other hand, a manufacturer of an exclusive product, such as jewellery or perfume, may deliberately choose an unusual, eye-catching form. This completely revised edition of our bestseller serves as a reference for structural design. All designs have been selected on account of their functional relevance and acceptability, and are stored in eps vector format on the enclosed CD-Rom. They can be easily scaled and modified to suit specific requirements.

dummy and wrong?2
I would recommend this book to everyone who enjoys crafts and modeling, or just to everybody who is curios about the making of things, because this book contains ready-to-use printable and editable (look for the cd-rom) patterns for the most used types of packaging on the market.
Be aware that this book is just a collection, a dummy, with no explanations.
But unfortunately, all the examples I have printed directly from the source files were somehow misfit and ended to be weird useless objects (stuff for 'The Design of Everyday Things' by Donald A. Norman, if you like).
I am not sure if this problem is in my copy of the book (an 'errata corrige'?), I hope that you'll be more lucky than me.

To all design students I would recommend this book, instead: 'The Packaging Designer's Book of Patterns' by Lazlo Roth, George L. Wybenga

a must-to...5
For professional or house use, a great book, nice ideas, nice detail, the CD is the best complement. great!

Good packaging ideas.4
If you're a visual learner like I am, this book will be helpful in giving you an overview of packaging design but without any words. This book is all about packaging examples, you can either reproduce, modify, or simply find inspiration from. If you are interested in understanding the why, you will need a different book, but for the how, this in my mind was very helpful, especially when it came to drafting in 2D.
