Not on par with M.R. James, not at all
This is a fairly short book, and was the first of Blackwood's works that I have read. To be honest, not very impressed; having devoured M.R. James' collected Ghost Stories, I was looking for a suitable alternative. Sad to say, Blackwood isn't the one. Read some of Le Fanu, and found that to be a little better, but there's no beating M.R. James.
