Sol Hoopii ; The master
There aren't enough stars above....
This gentleman was THE master of the Hawaiian steel guitar in his day. He is still studied today by steelers world wide. He developed tunings and the style far beyond where it was when he started.
In Hollywood he was on call for film sound tracks until he retired. With the exception of the Warners cartoon theme, if you heard steel in a movie, most likely Sol played it. This CD is both an historicly a voyage in his career, but also a time capsule of the style and the times.
If you think you want to get to know the Hawaiian guitar, this is about as good a place to start as you will find.

Nostalgic Hawaiian Music with a 1920's twist
I originally bought this CD because many of the songs are played as background music to the cartoon "Spongebob Squarepants." I had no idea that Hawaiian music was so popular in the 1920's and that this CD would contain 1920's rythym sounds on it. The nostalgic 20's beat is an added bonus and makes me feel happy and carefree. It's definitely one of my favorite CD's. I used to play this CD at the bookstore I worked at and the customers absolutely loved listening to it.
