Absolutely exhilirating! Vivaldi ecstasy.5
I wish I could give this CD 10 stars! This is a must for all Vivaldi or Baroque music lovers! Il Giardino Armonico is the greatest interpreter of Vivaldi's music! Just listen to the 1st and 13th track and you'll be blown away immediately! It's so full of vitality & joy and played with virtuosity and excitement! Their judgement and execution are perfection, yet their spirit, imagination and virtuosity are far beyond that! This is how Baroque music should be played! I've played this CD for my friends, and they all fell in love with this kind of music and playing. I have some of the works listed here played by other ensembles, and they all sound dull and lifeless by comparison! In fact, every recording made by "Il Giardino Armonico" is absolutely wonderful. Try them!

One of the most exciting and beautiful Vivaldi CD!5
Every Vivaldi CD from this ensemble is worth collecting, but this is definitely the first one I'll recommend. Their performance of this wonderful music is exciting, funny, and surprising!

You'll love it.

Il Giardino Armonico5
Il Giardino Armonico was made for Baroque music. Along with their rendition of the Brandenbergs (played like a house on fire), this lute and mandolin recording is a gem. Due to its very nature, the mandolin can tend to become cloying. The short double strings, the small body, etc. But on this recording, the artists make the mandolin become lilting and mellow.

I gave up on Vivaldi over twenty years ago, due to the rampant overuse of The Four Seasons. Il Giardino has brought me back into the fold. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who likes Baroque music, and even to people new to music that is more than 50 years old.
