Listen with your heart!3
If you can listen with your heart, this is the most beautiful music in the world. If you insist on listening with your ears, you might be disappointed.

El Zorzal Criollo5
Known as the "Songbird of Buenos Aires", Gardel (1890-1935), even though he was born in France, is the voice one identifies with Argentina; it is the heart and soul of the country, and his status as the idol of tango music has not waned with time.
This CD has seven of Gardel's own compositions, all of which are some of his most famous recordings: "Cuesta Abajo", "El Dia que Me Quieras", "Melodia de Arrabal", "Mi Buenos Aires Querido", "Volvio Una Noche", "Volver", and my favorite, "Silencio", about a mother who's five sons went to war, and she is left alone with memories and five medals.

It is a fairly unique CD because it also includes less familiar songs that are not found on most of his compillations, like the wonderful valse "Palomita Blanca", and "Rosas de Otoño", which are rare pleasures to hear.
All these recordings were made between 1927 and 1935, and obviously have an old "crackle" sound, though I find it part of the charm of his songs, and it does not diminish his extraordinary phrasing, and the spirit and vital force of this fabulous music. Total time for this CD is 43:10.
Actor/singer/songwriter Gardel is part of the history of Latin music, and will be remembered and loved as long as there are people who, like me, are enthralled by the tango.
