Customer Reviews
Casals at his absolute prime
As much as I have great respect for his post World War II recordings with Serkin, I prefer these 1930s recordings better. Casals was in much better form technically, and his sound had more richness at that time than later version, while his musical intelligence was already peerless. Pianists Horszowski, Schulfof and Cortot (!) are every way comparable, if not superior to Serkin. If one wants to hear what Casals the cellist was capable of doing, this is the recording they should listen to. An absolute must for Casals fans.
