Customer Reviews
If you like big band hits, this is one nice set of tunes
This is part of a multi-CD series, so it won't be anything like a good sampling of what music is available. But as part of that series, it holds its own. The performers include Artie Shaw's Orchestra, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Members of the Benny Goodman Orchestra, Members of the Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey Orchestras, Dick Haymes, and so on. Lots of talent.
And the songs. . . . My favorites here: "Stomping at the Savoy," "Cheek to Cheek," "Serenade in Blue," "Alexander's Ragtime Band," and many more.
If you're interested in the sounds of big bands, this is a nice, pleasant introduction that will get you to tapping your toes. For what it is, it's entertaining!
Sit back, relax, and enjoy....
Pop in the CD, pour a glass of your favorite scotch, light up that fine $5.00 cigar, and enjoy quality music. You can't go wrong with classics like "Cheek to Cheek", or "Prelude to a Kiss". Every note lures you back to the good 'ole days, when orchestra's serenaded you away into the late starry night. Let these great classics carry you off into happiness, and utter relaxation. If you enjoy this type of music, then I definately recommend this one.
