Customer Reviews
Soulful and Heartfelt
I just heard a couple cuts from this 1995 release on an NPR tribute to Jay McShann. It featured McShann on piano and Claude "Fidler" Williams on violin. What a combination of sounds and musicians. I'd never heard anything by McShann except his 1940s big band which, featuring Charlie Parker, was hot stuff. I've never hear the "Fidler" either, in spite of the fact that both have been playing around KC, my home town, since I was in high school in the 60s. Their smooth, soulful sound just bowled me over. They've probably been playing more than 100 years between them, but it sounds more like 1,ooo! I ordered a copy as soon as I got to my computer the day after the radio show.
