"Best of the Best"
I recieved this set from Amazon last week. I know it is a little costly by you will never be able to get a better collection anywhere at any price. Most of these are the early recordings where Jimmy could really make his voice roll! All of the five CDs are loaded with great music,many recordings from the 60s. You get the Originals like "Widow Maker". Sunny Side of the Mt", "Free Born Man", the songs that made Jimmy famous. Not only is the music great but the included booklet is loaded with vintage photos of Jimmy with the likes of Bill Monroe, JD Crow etc. This set is a must have for the real Bluegrass fan !

King of Bluegrass
This is a rich overview of one of the most unique figures in bluegrass/hillbilly music. His ability to put across a gospel/tearjerker/heart song is equalled only by George Jones. I had the good luck to see Martin and his band play recently and was brought to tears by the way he put across his tunes. His band made Yankee bluegrass wannabees very pale in the dust. Jimmy Martin wasn't a museum piece but a vital part of POPULAR country music (he was charting as late as the early 70s).
