Great Musical Score, Poor Bands3
I just picked up Free Willy today, and I have very mixed feelings about it. I, for one got the CD for the musical score, but hoped the songs would be at least good enough where I could listen to them The only song that is entertaining on this CD is Michael Jackson's "Will you be there" But why do you have to put it on twice, when essentially, it's the same exact thing! The rest of the bands on here are just horrendous, and when it comes to tracks 2-5, you might as well just skip it. The thing that keeps this CD from being 1 star, is the wonderful work by composer Basil Poledouris. Although there are only a few main themes to the music, they are all magical. They are classical, yet Poledouris is able to make them snappy too. Perhaps, the recording studio should have considered to put all the music he did on here, instead of these pathetic things called bands. If you are looking to buy this CD for the score, buy it at once. If you are looking to get it for the bands, I suggest you look somewhere else.

Great soundtrack for a great movie4
First of all, Free Willy is one of my favorite movies, and one that I enjoy watching again and again. An emotional tale about the impeccable friendship between a boy and a whale, it is the best family movies I have watched, along with 'Mrs Doubtfire' and 'Spider-Man 2.'

I would like to comment on the theme song of the movie 'Will you be there' by Michael Jackson, whose passionate vocals accompany powerful - and meaningful lyrics, bursting with emotion, is a wonderful song. The lyrics, and the way it is sang, show relentless desire to have someone to just 'be there,' reflecting the unbreakable relationship between the orphan Jessie and his loyal and famous killer whale Willy. The song could not have been more appropriate to the story line.

The other songs are good, but don't come close to 'Will you be there.' Hence bringing the score down to 4. Nvertheless, a brilliant soundtrack.

In the end, Willy is once again released into the sea in a tearful finale. And the movie shows how valuable friendships are. So do the songs.

Free Willy Soundtrack5
I bought the soundtrack for my 3 year old Son Collin. He loves watching the music video of Michael Jackson singing, "Will You Be There." He dances, sings and puts on quite a show for all our family and friends. The music is wonderful and sounds great on the CD. I have to bring his portable CD player with us on trips and he makes sure that I have the Free Willy Soundtrack CD with me on the way out. I would recommend the CD for anyone that likes the music in the movie!
