I just received the cd "Authentic Greek Folk Songs & Dances -- The Royal Greek Festival Company" and I must say I was extremely disappointed. First of all, the songs that are advertised on the cd are not even played in that order. The songs are completely out of order. Second, the numbering of the tracks does not even come close to what is advertised. The cd cover lists 10 songs and the cd plays 19 tracks. The very first song is in fact a hasapiko, listed as number 9. "Yiourgia-Yiourgia", which is number 3 on the track list, is actually played on track 14. You don't even have track 4 on the cd. Pontic music is usually played with a lyra and a drum (daouli). They have been known to use clarinet, but the songs "omal-miteritsa-serra" are definitely not played at all. Third, and most imporatantly, these are not authentic. I am a greek dance instructor and I have taught Greek folk dance for the past 7 years and for some of these songs, while they are what it says on the cover, actually are not played authentically.

I am extremely disappointed in this cd and it is going right to the trash.

The music on this album sounds really authentic. It has an excellent Greek feel to it that doesn't sound overly produced or influenced in a "pop"-ish way. Recommended.
