Fantastic and Infectious4
This is one of the best soundtrack albums to come out of the 80s. Many a good song on this collection, the best ones are highlighted below -

1. Neutron Dance by Pointer Sisters. Fantastic piece of electro-pop used in the truck chase at the beginning of the movie.
2. New Attitude & Stir It Up by Patti LaBelle. These songs are probably Patti's finest work.
3. The Heat Is On by Glenn Frey - fantastic sax solo and infectious chorus makes this song one of the best from the 80s.
4. Rock and Roll Me Again by The System. Remember the System? (Don't Disturb This Groove) This song wasn't in the movie but it's still a good catchy pop tune.

The only reason this soundtrack doesn't get 5 stars from me is because it's missing "Nasty Girl" by Vanity 6. However, it remains just as good without it. If you can, try and pick up an early copy of this album which includes a song by the late great Rick James (Can't Stop) which was originally going to be used for the strip bar scene in the movie.

Now Is That Gratitude? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!5
I can't believe that's Danny Elfman! But still that's just one of the great songs on this soundtrack. You have Patti LaBelle stiring it up, and with "New Attitude". We have Harold Faltermeyer with his famous "Axel F", the best instrumental track I've ever heard. I also like Glen Frey's "The Heat Is On", I just love the lyrics to that song. I can't think of too many movies that have better soundtracks than this

Where's Vanity???4
This is overall a great soundtrack, preceding an even better soundtrack to 'Beverly Hills Cop 2'..but just as with the second soundtrack, this one is missing a song. Remember the strip club scene..the girl [dancing] to 'Nasty Girl' by Vanity. Vanity is the beautiful, soulful voice leading the thumping dance jams of 80s' movies like 'Beverly Hills Cop', 'Action Jackson', 'Coming to America' and more. That song failed to reach this CD. Just as one song from 'Cop 2' aslo did: 'Hold On' by Anita Hill..which was actually poorly re-done for the CD by Corey Hart. Gimme Anita Hill, her version heard only in the movie is much better. This soundtrack does definately deserve a listen though, with hard-to-find great songs like 'Stir It Up' by Patti LaBelle..which originally kept me in the movie theatre until the credits were done..and of course Axel F composed and conducted by award-winning German music composer Harold Faltermeyer. If you're gonna buy either one of these//you should get 1 and 2 together...two great CDs that will be sitting in the honorable front seat of your car for years to come.
