Alfred Apaka, The Voice Of Old Hawaii
Alfred Apaka typifies the smooth and melodic sounds of Hawaii. This Best of..., Vol 1 is a real trip down memory lane for fans of Hawaiian music. The original music was released on two long-play platters. As a kid, I would listen to Mr. Apaka's beautiful voice and imagine what it must be like to be in Hawaii. Now, when I visit the islands, I can hear The Voice of Old Hawaii singing to me. It is indeed sad he is no longer with us. However his music will live on. Perhaps, someday soon, Vol 2 will be available again to complete that magnificient collection recorded many years ago.

I first went to Hawaii in 1960, Alfred Alpaka was the biggest name in Hawaiian music, this CD proves he still is. If you really want to know what "Hawaiian" music should sound like, buy this CD.
