A voice for all music fans... amazing instrument!!!
What a shame this isn't available. I have it on LP and I treasure it. This album is the completion of Vol. I and has so many lovely songs on it. Despite Apaka's mostly Hawaiian repertoire, his voice is so amazing that EVERYone should hear him sing even if this type of music isn't your thing. Sincerely, he has one of the best baritone voices I've heard ANYwhere. His instrument is truly amazing- voluptuous, powerful, masculine and yet very tender. His Ebb Tide is enough to make a nun blow the convent and the "Wedding Song" is done with such sweetness that it's just irresistible. The song, Princess Poo-Poo-Ly has Plenty Papaya is too cute for words- it's a lot of fun, you just have to hear this one. His lovely rendition of "I Will Remember You" and "Far Across the Sea" are both the very "picture" of smoothness, yet his singing is never boring. Far from it, his singing is really enthralling. I always lament that he was taken from us at the early age of 41- what a loss! But his voice will live on in these wonderful recordings. I highly recommended this album if you can get your hands on one.
