One of Monk's greatest
This is an excellent live recording of one of the greatest figures in jazz. Thelonious Monk is heard here with an awesome medium-large ensemble which includes luminaries Clark Terry, Phil Woods, and Johnny Griffin. What really makes this album worth getting is the extended version of "Oska T" - one of Monk's greatest, yet lesser-known, compositions. The theme is built up gradually, starting with Monk solo and climaxing with the full ensemble blowing, and the excellent horn players are given plenty of space to build wonderful solos. I've listened to lots of Monk albums, and this particular one remains at the top of the pile.
