Huge in Britain - Missed the boat in America5
Thunder rocked with the best bands from the 1990's. Word on the street is that Thunder is still alive and well a dozen albums later and they have/had a reunion tour just after 2000. Danny Bowes had the vocal chords to power out a hard rocking song, as well as sing those 80's style power ballads. Their albums are extremely hard to find... most are out of print in America and now only sold in the states as imports. While perhaps their biggest release in Britain and Japan, "Backstreet Symphony" (1990) found only limited success here in America. "Symphony" spawned perhaps their biggest hit "Dirty Love", as well as the slower ballads "Love Walked In" and "Higher Ground". As good as the slower songs were, I liked Thunder because they could rock the house... check out "Girl's Going Out Of Her Head". Thunder joins the ranks with other select rock bands that had something to offer, but for whatever reason just didn't cash in here in America; like Mr. Big, Kix, Firehouse, Junkyard, etc. A fantastic rock album from an underrated British band. Seek this one out!

Great blues based Brit Rock...5
Backstreet Symohony is a great release from a great band that simply flew under most people's radar because they were never able to get that hit single in the States. Thunder plays simple straightforward blues based rock with great hooks and melodies(they are NOT a "hair band" as they are sometimes lumped in with). Full of guitars, great vocals(I really like Don Bowes' voice) and lyrics with tounge in cheek humor this is just good FUN rock'n'roll.

Song Highlights include: Dirty Love, Backstreet Symphony, Love Walked In, An Englishman On Holiday(should be on every barroom jukebox), Gimme Some Lovin'(good cover) and Distant Thunder.

If you are a fan of guitar based rock, Thunder delivers it in spades and Backstreet Symphony is worthy of a place in your collection.

Yes it's old, but it rocks!5
I bought this CD MANY years ago because I loved the music of Andy Taylor (he produced this, I think)and have loved it since. The music is great and "Englishman on Holiday" is funny. It didn't get nearly the credit it deserved back then. It's good, timeless rock and roll.
