Editorial Reviews
The Los Angeles Times
The band's real chops--and they have plenty--don't really surface until Mason's "Rio Rush," when each of the players finally stretches out. East proffers some entertaining scat singing on "Piece of My Heart" (not the Janis Joplin version), and the final three tracks--an easy grooving "Slow Slide," the rhythmically quirky "Vest Pocket" and Carton's aptly titled "Swamp Jazz" reveal, however briefly, the essential skills of this all-star ensemble.

Fourplay is "Still the One"
Fourplay continues to play good jazz music. One noticable difference from this album is the extended vocal talent on some of the tracks. The bass lines are a little better than before, but still not as developed as they could be. However, if you're into upbeat jazz that keeps moving, you may want to experiment with some older Fourplay albums because this one has that slow "Playboy" sound to it on most of the tracks.
Love This CD!!
This is one of my favorite Fourplay CD's. Fourplay always deliver..and never disappoint. And in response to Steven Roberts asking what planet Jazzyjane is from.....well Jazzyjane might be thinking what planet you are from if you actually listened to this CD and think BABYFACE is not on it!!!
when i listen to smooth fusion.....
i listen to larry carlton or bob james or lee ritenour... all of which are fantastic in their group fouplay and on their own albums.... this cd is very pleasing to listen to but i am wondering what planet jazzy jane below is from she writes an intelligent review but says that larry carlton replaced lee ritenour on KEYBOARDS???? come on now dear... and why in the heck does amazon have a link to BABYFACE on this page like he is on the album?
