There was a time when Aerosmith was a great rock band. Then, just a few years before vocalist Steven Tyler's daughter, Liv Tyler, grew up and became a movie star, they transformed into one of the premier purveyors of power ballads--songs, in essence, that are as vapid as the big summer blow-'em-up movies, like, oh, say, Armageddon. In which Liv Tyler stars. Convenient, no? The soundtrack, which includes four and a half Aerosmith tracks ("Animal Crackers" features only Tyler), also has contributions from ZZ Top ("La Grange"), Bob Seger ("Roll Me Away"), and Our Lady Peace ("Starseed"), all of which fans of the respective bands will own on previously released albums. There is Shawn Colvin's fine--if ultimately unnecessary--cover of World Party's "When the Rainbow Comes," new tracks from Jon Bon Jovi and Patty Smyth, and even a dusting off of Aerosmith's take on "Come Together." Judge for yourself: is that really the song you want to hear just before an asteroid finishes off the Earth? --Randy Silver

amazing album, better than the 1 song
most people probably just buy this cd for the hit aerosmith song. those may find themselves coming out with mor than they expected, because this his many other great songs on it such as the song from journey and my favorite, la grange by zz top. this soundtrack is a great buy and would highly reccomend it!
One song CAN carry a CD
Personally I didn't really like most of the other songs on this CD. But if you're going to buy it just to get "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing", I'd say it's worth it. This is one hell of a rock ballad, if there ever was one, and no matter how many times I listen to it I don't get sick of it. It's Steven Tyler at his finest (the music video rocks too).
More than one good song
Of course "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" is the song that made this soundtrack so popular and it is a great song, but it's not the only good song on the Armageddon Soundtrack. What makes this one of the best soundtracks ever made in my opinion is that it has some great classic rock songs along with some great new songs. It has such classic songs as Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion," ZZ Top's "La Grange," and Bob Seger's "Roll Me Away." The other songs on this album are also good, especially "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing," "Remember Me," and "Wish I Were You."
The Armageddon Soundtrack is a great all around soundtrack and one of the best ones ever made. If you want a great soundtrack, I recommend getting this one.
