Customer Reviews

A Hidden Gem5
All of the CDs in this collection are wonderful, and should not be ingnored by anyone. On this CD, you get more than 57 minutes of absolutely incredible accordion playing that feels almost live. I have been fortunate enough in recent weeks to watch Billy McComiskey play at weekly sessions at a pub in baltimore, and i must say that listening to this recording is almost like seeing him live. He plays of three of the tracks on this CD, and is joined by an impressive array of other incredible accordion players. John Whelan is on two tracks, and again, hearing the recording is almost like seeing him live (except for jumping around the stage part that he has a tendency to do). Other musicians featured on this CD inlcude Phil Cunningham (responsible for track 18, the standout track on the CD), Joe Burke, Jimmy Keane, Paddy O'Brien, Jackie Daly, and James Keane. I cannot say enough good things about this CD. I love "The Bucks of Oranmore," "The Connaughtman's Rambles," and especially "The Moving Cloud," but every track is equally incredible. If you are new to Celtic music, then this CD is perfect for you, and if you are a seasoned listener, then this CD is perfect for you. You can't go wrong.
