Customer Reviews

A beautiful Christmas album.5
"Croon and Swoon" contains the classic Christmas songs you heard while growing up. Each song is just as you remember it. There are some truly beautiful songs on this album, such as Johnny Mathis' "Winter Wonderland," Judy Garland's "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," and Peggy Lee's "The Christmas Waltz" (which listeners in the SE USA may remember was featured prominently in the Publix holiday commercials a few years ago). There is only one miss on this album: Ray Conniff's "Silver Bells," which conjures visions of elevator music. The album is thoroughly enjoyable and likely to become a favorite in your home.

An Accidental Treasure5
I was at my local used music store, and was searching through the Christmas cd's and found this cd. It was marked used, but was still sealed, so I bought it. It is the best Christmas cd that I have bought in a long time. It has all the songs I remember listening to on the radio when I was a child on Christmas Eve waiting for Santa. It is a definite must have for putting up the Christmas tree or sitting in front of the fireplace drinking eggnog. It has that kind of warmth that makes you feel like a kid again. With songs from people like Bing Crosby, Gene Autry and Doris Day how can you go wrong? Get this cd and get the most out of your Christmas.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas4
It's amazes me to read people in this (and other reviews) lament Judy Garland's "version" of 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas." Her version is the definitive and original version from the classic film "Meet Me in St. Louis." The POINT of the song is sad and is about being separated from loved ones during the Christmas season. It is yes, about trying to "muddle through somehow." If that offends your sunny sensibilities, then you might not like this version. But sometimes Christmas is merry, sometimes not. Just like life. Other artists wanting to put a more positive spin on the song- changed the lyrics. I love her "version." I think it is poignant and moving. Great album overall.
