Don't hesitate on this...5
I'm a Joe Chambers fan from his work with Bobby Hutcherson, and Chambers' unbelievable compositions on the should-be classic Bobby albums OBLIQUE, DIALOGUE and COMPONENTS. This one lives up to all expectations set by those hard compositions and that playing. A remarkable transformation of Latin happens here, there's nothing else quite like its dynamism. Cedar Walton drops the heavy load. Indeed the balance struck between crushing weight and ineffable lightness is massive. Joe, I don't know how you do it. Don't hesitate, and don't sleep on this one.
