Editorial Reviews
Album Description
This album contains a selection of 11 highlights from the smooth saxophonist's late-'80s and '90s recordings for EMI/Capitol. There may be a few fan favorites missing, but Najee's career lends itself better to an anthology than most musicians, mainly because it is oriented toward songs, not performances. Consequently, this disc offers a good overview of his career, since it captures not only many of the best-known songs such as "For the Love of You," "Tokyo Blue," "Can't Hide Love," "Day By Day," "Betcha Don't Know," "Najee's Theme" but it also gives a good sense of what his albums sound like. "The Best of Najee" is an excellent choice for the curious and casual fan.

The first time I heard NAJEE,'Can't Hide Love' was on the radio. This guy is re-writing the book of producing smooth, sultry and VERY romantic jazz! Night life, jet-cool jazz at it's finest!! 'For the Love of You' is also a great 'warm-up' to 'Can't Hide Love'. The ending of 'Can't Hide Love' WILL move your soul! A must for the serious smooth jazz lover!

I HAVE LOVED THIS PERFORMER SINCE I HEARD THE TV THEME FROM TAXI "YEARS AGO". HE IS JUST "AWESOME" ONE OF THOSE ARTIST YOU CAN BUY WITHOUT HEARING AND "KNOW" THE MUSIC WILL BE WONDERFUL !!
Verstile
I really like the fact that Najee showcases his woodwind skills on both the flute and sax. The flute work on Stevie Wonder's 'I am Singing ' is beautiful as well as a Jarreau piece. The sax work is not as strong mainly due to somewhat vapid and overly pop sounding rhythms and instrumental support.
