Editorial Reviews

In 1985, Bo Diddley put together a band that included Ron Wood, John Mayall, Mick Fleetwood, Kenny Jones, Carmine Appice, John Lodge, Ronnie Lane, Carl Wilson, and members of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Chicago, Quiet Riot, and Three Dog Night. He cooked them all a barbecue dinner, and then they put on a show. It's a 55-minute R&B jamfest. Chuck Berry shows up in the middle of this film for a number or two, but--despite the title--it's Bo's show. Behind-the-scenes footage shows how Bo oversaw every detail of the music, even getting behind Kenny Jones's drum kit to show him exactly how a riff should go. Bo Diddley's songs are mostly about Bo Diddley the rock & roll legend, but the group is terrific (every rock & roll band should have four drummers!) and everyone is obviously having a ball--especially Wood, who spends the whole concert grinning like a school boy to be on stage with one of his heroes. --Geof Miller

Customer Reviews

Classic Bo Diddley, no Chuck Berry2
The only footage of Chuck Berry here seems to show him refusing to perform his songs for some reason. A little bizzare given the title of the DVD.
