A great sampler!
This is a terrific Cd for lovers of Celtic music, especially for fiddle fans. Several artists & styles, from slow & lyrical to fast & fiery. Some very traditional cuts, some great departures on a Celtic theme. And you can't beat the price. Gotta have it!
Wow!
I know I have said this about some of the other Celtophile CDs, but this definetly a must have! Especially if you love fiddle. Most of them are fast, but there are a couple that are slow. Definetly a foot tapper. You can't go wrong with this CD.
Legends of the Scottish Fiddle
What a beautiful album of Scottish music this is! I absolutely love it. It's so beautifully carried out, it just transports you. It reminds me of some music I heard on Granville Island, Canada. Unfortunately, they're not a major group and you can't buy their albums anywhere...but this comes really close. It's different of course, and true to itself, but it still evokes good memories.
Turn it on anytime you need a lift. There are so few instruments here, and you can hear them all, which is an amazing experience. This music paints a picture of beautiful Scotland. It's very complex, but it's something you just want to get up and jig to. I turn it on at work and it gets me going faster. There's some really fast-paced music on Legends, but somehow it's not overwhelming. I'm not sure how they pulled it off, but mostly I just enjoy it.
Heart and soul is what Legends of the Scottish Fiddle creates. You simply do not find music like this every day--even every year. In the Celtic tradition, Legends heals the soul. This music is like a first kiss every time you play it--beautiful, new, surprising at every turn.
