Great Old School HARDCORE/Gabber
You'll here this music at a lot of hardcore parties. Roterdam is good. But the music isn't dark like newer hardcore is (ie. hardcorp/ron d core). It definately is not as choppy as ron d core. This CD is definately a tribute to oldschool hardcore. It does get a little silly at times, but in a good way. Overall it is some good music. Good to have in any hardcore collection. You can actualy listen to this stuff through both cd's. Some of the newer hardcore gets old after about 20 min.
Rotterdam is hot!
This CD is so PHAT! I had previously only been exposed to the American brand of gabber/speedcore, mostly heavy metal headbangin' stuff, but I wanted more of an electronic, melodic, techno sound, and this CD delivers in a huge way. The melodies seem to change two or three times throughout each song, and each time it happens, it sets off a new round of a**-shakin'. Rotterdam definitely knows whats up with gabber, sacrificing a few BPM's in order to create a more melodic, danceable beat, instead of incredibly fast, impossible-to-dance-to speedcore.
Next to HARDCORPS, this ranks as one of the best
For those of you who have yet to lend ear to the evil conveyed by Hardcorps, then you must buy this compilation. The beats are hard, underground, and unlike the weaker "hardcore" mentioned by the individual beneath me, the baselines are banging and it shies away from the heavy metal head banging style and sticks to the house/techno roots that so many of you New Yorkers love. The Remix of "Slaves to the rave," is superb and for those of you who enjoy hardcore foot flipping over at Sound Factory, you will love this. It is the European hardcore that you are becoming accustomed to and more than ever, growing to love. A few songs are a bit weak, but overall, this compilation is superb....worth buying.
Check out HARDCORPS...the compilation is beyond belief.
