An updated read on William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, Gil Junger's 10 Things I Hate About You is a teen comedy about two sisters on opposite ends of the social spectrum: one is pretty and popular, the older sister is bitter and vengeful. Family rules dictate that the younger sibling can't date until the older one has. You see where this is going. The soundtrack features Letters to Cleo in a '70s mood covering Cheap Trick's "I Want You to Want Me" and Nick Lowe's "Cruel to Be Kind." Sweden's Cardigans include a rare B-side, "War." George Clinton's "Atomic Dog," Joan Armatrading's "The Weakness in Me," and Madness's "Wings of a Dove" still sound fresh. The only real misstep is Sister Hazel's "Your Winter," which sounds like a Seven Mary Three parody, full of breast-beating sincerity and lyrics that defy the laws of coherence. --Rob O'Connor

Songs that weren't on the soundtrack
Okay, I dunno about the rest of you, but I was kind of disappointed in the soundtrack. It didn't have many of the songs that were in the movie. So I went on Napster and searched around to find some of the other songs. Hope this helps you people.
The song playing in Club Skunk is "Come On" by Letters To Cleo (only available on Napster and maybe on their website)
Kat's table dance song is "Hypnotize" by Notorious BIG.
The song playing near the beginning that goes "Sunshine on my window, makes me happy, like I should be..." is "Calypso" by Spiderbait.
The song that goes "I don't give a **** bout my reputation" is "Bad Reputation" by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
The song playing when Cameron and Michael are watching the flyers for the party fall down the stairs is "Sexy Boy" by Air French Band.
Hope that helped!
This awesome soundtrack is worth buying!
From the moment the movie "10 Things I Hate About You" began, I knew that I would love the music. By the end of the film, I was convinced that the soundtrack was worth purchasing. My favorite songs on the album are: "FNT" (Semisonic), "I Know" (Save Ferris), "Cruel to be Kind" (Letters to Cleo), "I Want You to Want Me" (Letters to Cleo), and "Even Angels Fall" (Jessica Riddle). The variety of music is fantastic! This soundtrack really helped me to open my ears to different types of music and different groups that I normally wouldn't have listened to. If you've seen the movie, you probably realize that there are a few songs that aren't included on the soundtrack. For example, the very first song that is playing at Club Skunk is not on the c.d. If anyone knows what song that is, please let me know. Thanks! I really like that song! Two other great songs from the movie that are not on the soundtrack are: "Calypso" by Spiderbait and "Sexy Boy" by Air. But even though the album fails to include all of the great songs from the movie, I still think it's worth buying. So buy it! It's great!
THE BELL JAR SONG
The song, in case you were wondering, as I was, that plays as Kat is reading "The Bell Jar" is called "Calypso" and is by Spiderbait. For a review, I have one posted below. Enjoy ;-)
