Everything you love or hate about neo-swing!4
Hey, people -- if you don't like neo-swing, don't listen to it! Haven't we had enough "It's not REAL jazz/swing/whatever and it's cashing in on a GAP khaki trend" reviews? Yes, it's neo-swing. No, the sound's not original. Yes, the lyrics are repetitive. Yes, it's trendy right now. That said, this band is AMAZING. John Bunkley's got Louis Armstrong's voice, Tom Waits' phrasing, and a rock-and-roll sense of the rhythm, from the bouncy "Caviar & Chitlin's" to the hard-driving "Man With the Hex." I personally love the Waits-esque gravellyness on a bluesy song like "Lover Lies." Great dance music, great to listen to, great sound and variety and rhythm -- this may be the best swing band you've never heard of. Yes, it's neo-swing; if you can forgive yourself for liking it, this is one of the best punk-swing albums out there.

Wild!5
One of the wildest neo-swing bands ever heard. Really powerful swing. Songs like The Man with the Hex, Swing Sweet Pussycat, Caviar and Chitlins are the highlights on this album. Lover Lies is a wonderful ballad (that Tom Waits could sing). Very enjoyable and danceable album.

Too cool for words...But I'll try....5
First off, this is not swing music. When I first heard the music I was expecting something overly slick like all the other Vegas-esque acts out there. Not so! This is butt kicking rock/jump blues. It has more punk influence than swing, and damn is that a good thing. Don't get me wrong I love the old swing stuff. However, in the spirit of Louis Jordan these guys take it up a notch. John Bunkley may very well be one of the most daring vocalists to date. He shouts like an old blues shouter, but phrases with more of an edge; way up on top of the beat and with a lot of heat. Frankly, without him, the band would sound a bit lame. With him, they are quite the treat for cliche' worn ears.
