From Jazziz
"We're trying to bring virtuosic playing back to the forefront in music," says drummer Lenny White about his new band Vertú, a musical collective that features bassist Stanley Clarke, keyboardist Rachel Z, violinist Karen Briggs, and guitarist Richie Kotzen. "I haven't had an opportunity to play like this in a long time - where everybody is really stretching out on their instruments and playing up to their full potential." White is talking about playing fusion again, music that begged its participants to go for broke and show the audience everything they had in them. But will today's jazz audience be down with the "F" word? White thinks so. "I'm convinced that there is a whole new audience out there that will respond enthusiastically to this music, just as people did 30 years ago."

Vertu... One Guy`s Opinion4
I received Vertu for Christmas and just listened to it for the first time. I`ve listened to Fusion since the mid-70`s and was pleasantly surprised by this CD. There are actual compositions, not just chord changes for romping over. Parts of it seem more progrock than jazz/rock fusion. Like it or not, it seems as though mixing genres is where music is headed. I liked their sound, especially the violin. They covered lots of musical territory, but that`s the way I like it.If you are a purest about style, you probably will not care for Vertu. But I think Clark, White, et al have done excellent work here, and I`m already looking forward to their next effort.

Return to Fusion5
I'm ashamed to admit that I did not know of this CD until 2001. This from a fusion fan who has an extensive Return to Forever, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White collection. This album is awesome. It is reminiscent of the hey days of fusion, yet it strikes me as being very cutting edge. "V-Wave" is one of my favorite cuts as well as "Toys" and the remake of "After the Cosmic Rain" from the RTF album; "Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy". Kudos to Stan and Lenny for assembling these great musicians and bringing Fusion into the new Millenium.

My favorite CD in my whole collection5
I wish there were more stars that I could give this, because they deserve it. THis is the best fusion CD that has come out in a while. The mixture of all these different styles creates such a texture. Kotzen breaks from his usual metal background and plays melodically and beautifly. Great Cd - I definitely recommend it.
