Clay Walker is an eminently likeable country singer who appears to have sold 6 million records largely on his likability. Not that he is without talent. He may look like a standard-issue "hat" act, but his voice is a cut above. With new producer Doug Johnson he has set out to place his voice front and center, a good idea with mixed results. On cuts like the rocker "Cold Hearted" and the R&B-style ballad "This Time Love," Walker cuts his considerable pipes loose in a way rarely heard in commercial country fare. Sadly, too much of the other material gives him little to do with this marvelous instrument, and the sound occasionally masks the subtle vocal twists at which Walker is so adept. Live, Laugh, Love isn't overproduced--steel guitars have replaced many of the pop keyboards present in his previous work and the record has an authentically loose and relaxed feel--but there are too many forced hooks and forgettable melodies. --Michael Ross

Good Enough to Attract a New Fan
Having recently bought the album, I have a new appreciation for the editorial review of Michael Ross. All should read the Ross review.
'Live, Laugh, Love' is the song that first attracted me to Walker and his work, and I bought the album. At first I was disappointed that there were not more songs that featured the title's calypso-like, get-up-and-dance style; but it is difficult NOT to like and appreciate the various styles represented. 'Chain of Love' has overtaken the title song as my favorite, and 'Once in a Lifetime Love' truly showcases Walker's vocal talent. Most other songs are romantic, easy-to-listen-to ballad types, and will no doubt be appreciated by his many female fans. I'd rate 'Cold Hearted' and 'This Time Love' as the weakest cuts on the album, but still give them three 'stars' each.
Overall, I liked Walker's work enough to buy four more of his albums, so maybe with only four stars, I'm a tough grader.
Clay Walker presents a well balanced album.
"Live Laugh Love" is a wonderful release. While all the songs are excellent one tune stands out, "The Chain Of Love". I'd reccommend the whole album for that one song. Clay's pure country and I'm glad he is!
Great!
I love Clay Walker. I think he's sweet, cute, and a good singer! I liked the album "Live, Laugh, Love" a lot. My favorite songs were She's Always Right, Holding Her and Loving You (originally sung by Earl Thomas Conley), It Ain't Called Heartland For Nothin', and the Chain of Love. I enjoyed the rest of the songs, also, with the exception of This Time Love--I think that this song pushed the limits of Clay's voice. This album is still deserving of 5 stars, though. I recommend this album to any country music fan. Buy this album and support Clay Walker!
