Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Touring Troubadours serves up a generous a sampling of '90s folk music at a budget price. Nine esteemed Rounder-affiliated artists are represented in the anthology, with each given two selections to show their stuff. While the lot of them travel the same circuit (the collection is subtitled The Hardest Working Artists in Show Business, which aptly characterizes this school of road warriors), they represent a range of styles. From Vance Gilbert's delicacies to the Kennedys' and the Nields' supple folk-rock to the distinct singer-songwriter constructions of Bill Morrissey, Lynn Miles, David Olney, Ellis Paul, Tanya Savory, and Cheryl Wheeler, Touring Troubadours hits the road running and covers plenty of ground. --Steven Stolder

Great bang for your buck4
I picked this CD up at a folk festival, and now I'm really excited to see they're offering at at Amazon.com. This is a great sampler of some of the best -- and most esteemed -- voices in folk music today. Each artist has a recorded song and a live recording, which makes it even more interesting as far as I'm concerned. This is one of the best compilations I've seen in a long time, well worth the bucks (and then some).
