A heart warming tale5
Oct 1st was Children's Day in Singapore. That evening, "Song of the Unicorn" narrated by J.Irons was played on FM92.4 by one of our classical channel DJ, Andrew Lim, to wish all listeners "Happy Children's Day". I usually tune in to the jazz channel on Sundays evenings but last night, I was lucky to tune in to the narration of this heart warming story. I was reading then and as the tale unfolded in J.Irons' strong, unique and wonderfully soothing voice, I was mesmerised and totally enraptured and actually put down my novel to listen intently to the tale, the lovely music and the sweet childish voices of Owen and Maggie, two main characters in the story. The fairy tale of the unicorn was a touching story to listen to in this day and age of hitech and advanced technolgy. It is a fantasy to indulge in for the children and for all those of us who wants to nurture and enrich the child in us.

Classical Kids - Song of the Unicorn/Jeremy Irons5
I listened to this on the radio this morning with my 5 year old daughter. We stumbled on it, and it captivated us...particularly the narrator. we listened for about 15 minutes and only when it was over did we realize it was a new Classical Kids CD, narrated by Jeremy Irons. We have many of the other Classical kids CDs, and this is by far one of the best and every bit as good as Beethoven Lives Upstairs! Jeremy Irons is as good a story teller as Meryl Streep, another of our favorites.

Not just for kids!5
I happened to be tuned to KING-FM this morning, the last Saturday in January, when Marta Zekan came on with her Classical Kid-FM program. Usually, I work around the house while listening to the music with half an ear. But today I actually sat down and totally enjoyed the whole captivating, magical story with no doing-this and doing-that. The story and the music chosen to go with it are both delightful! I fancy sending this CD to my former favorite person who is forever a kid at heart and from whom, over two decades, I gleaned a richer appreciation of a wide variety of music.
