Newrly Perfect Holiday CD
This is a wonderful CD. I was looking for something to augment my collection of Bing Crosby Christmas classics, and I stumbled upon this gem. I would call it perfect if not for that annoying "Santa Baby" song.
After buying it, I popped it into my cd player at work and listened to it on the headphones. The first 3/4 of the disk got me so warmed up for the holidays that I organized a tree decorating party at my apartment via email for that night. Then when I heard Julie Andrews' angelic voice pour silent night into my headphones my eyes spontaneously filled with tears. She really was something.
Buy this disk and enjoy the holidays.
Another good collection of Christmas classics
When I went looking for CDs to add to my relatively new holiday music collection, I wanted a couple of CDs with "classics." This CD and Croon & Swoon (1) fit the bill pretty well. There are not as many definitive versions on this CD as on the first one, but there is a good mix of songs and singers, with the last part of the CD tending towards more traditional fare. A couple of the songs that I most enjoy are Louis Armstrong's "Winter Wonderland" and Julie Andrews' "Silent Night." The music is fairly quiet--perfect background music for that holiday get-together or while you wrap presents and bake cookies. It's worth checking out.
