Customer Reviews
jack pole may not fit properly
I've purchased several of these anchors for my Qual Craft (QC) pumpjack system, even though a similar anchoring system can be made out of scrap hardwood/plywood, some construction adhesive and some ten inch spikes (see the OSHA.gov site). The problem I've found with several of these anchors that I've purchased - and subsequently returned - is that the box design doesn't always allow for the dimensions of the nominal lumber they're supposed to accomodate. In other words, the inside measurements - apparently a Qual Craft factory weld mishap either overlooked or ignored for fear of a recall - are not dimensionally square and won't allow for the "square" piece of the laminated douglas fir pole that you've constructed for the pump jack uprights. And I don't mean welded crookedly - I mean the inside dimensions are not consistent laterally (3 1/2" ... see my QC 2200Q review). For this reason, I only purchase these anchors at my local big-box HD or bL*we's so that I can physically bring them to the lumber aisle to check to see that the anchors I am purchasing are welded correctly, squarely and dimensionally consistent. Although this pole anchor does do its anchoring job well, the crappy paint job the manufacturer slaps on immediately scratches and rusts just as quickly as the other QC items I own. Hence the three *** star review. ... Oh, and yes - a word of advice - don't store these on the seat of your pickup truck! :0
