From the Manufacturer
This Stanley 20-600 Clamping Mitre Box has a 14-inch back saw and a built-in measuring scale. Honeycomb base and cam pins secure work for accurate cuts. Cuts miters on 45-degree and 90-degree, face angle 45-degree, and all new 22-1/2-degree angles (for octagonal shapes) popularly used on architectural details such as bay windows. Molded-in storage compartments to hold cam pins and pencil. Base and pins are molded of high impact resistant material for long life. Comes with miter box and two cam pins. Molded lip on base edge for easy use without mounting. Two screw holes on each side to secure base to work top. Built in saw stop to prevent cutting into miter box. Patented design.
Customer Reviews
plastic junk
Pins would not even hold 1/4" thick Baseboard trimm. Plastic sides move when you are sawing. Went and bought wood box. The Saw is a good hand saw.
Very frustrating to use
I bought one of these when I installed Pergo in my house to do the trim. It was very frustrating to use. First off, it's very hard to use if you are just placing it on the ground. Although it's hard to tell from the picture, it's got an L shaped base that's meant to mount on a bench. If you use it on the floor, the cutting surface is at an angle. Also, I found I frequently ended up cutting into the plastic of the box. The wallbase I was using was too tall to fit in the box upright, so I had to do the 45 degree cuts using face cuts. The saw would really squeek on these cuts. I ended up buying a better Craftsman miter saw, and only wish I'd done so sooner.
This miter box might be alright if you just have to do a few cuts and want to save money, but if you have to do any significant amount of money, save yourself the frustration and spend your money on something better.
Almost completely useless
Too small to use for tall baseboard or crown molding. The plastic bends during sawing and the saw cuts into the plastic. The saw is so short that you can only move it back and forth about 2 cm, so each cut takes forever to make. This is a total piece of trash, and will just cause you to go out and spend more money on something that actually works.
