Perfect Album!5
This album contains all her best performances.
Adele's aria is rare to find in other records and her singing is
just vivid!

much more than you would expect5
A title like "The Art of Edita Gruberova" usually introduces some sort of "best of" compilation.
This album divides the selections into three categories: The Art of Belcanto, The Art of Coloratura, and the Art of Humor.
Each category then presents arias from three different operas.

Edita Gruberova's singing demonstrates elegance, attention to every little detail, consummate control, and adroit skill at communicating every emotion. The listener simply finds himself asking if anyone has every sung it better than Gruberova.

A petty point: The CD manufacturers (or label printers) seem to have reversed selections 7 and 8, so if you hear German, when the label indicates a French opera, it's because they've switched Strauss and Offenbach.

If you already know of Edita Gruberova's singing, or if you just appreciate incredible virtuosity, you will enjoy listening to this album, and sharing it with your friends.

I thought it was a nice touch to include three songs illustrating humor in opera. Opera folks sometimes seem a bit stuffy in their appreciation of the finer things in music. It's good to enjoy some humor too.

This is really incredibly skilful, beautiful singing

She only did it twice this time3
I used to have lots of her, and threw it all away (except Rigoletto, even she couldn't ruin that one) in disgust and anger and contempt. I bought this CD for only one thing: Zerbinetta's aria. No one else that I can find sang it except Sumi Jo who left off 5 minutes of it. I'm so angry, I want to call this woman (Gruberova) a PIG! She's a phony. A waste of time and a waste of talent and mellifluousness and skill. With all she's got going for her, she will ruin, spoil it all by SLIDING with insouciance to the top notes instead of making a clean break and jumping to them. There aren't that many good coloraturas out there, why lose one? Like I said, she only did it twice on this album, and she does sing Zebinetta's aria, so I'll keep it. I'll never play the gd thing again, but I'll keep it. What the hell is her point? Is this her signature? Her style? Bad singing?
