Editorial Reviews

This collection features an upbeat set of tunes from a nice variety of Celtic players. The focus is on dance and Blair Douglas gets things off on the right foot with the percussion-rich piece "The Landlord's Walk" before accordionist John Whelan steps in with some jigs and reels. Highlights of this mostly instrumental acoustic album include Old Blind Dogs' spirited medley, Kim Robertson's crystalline harp on the song "Molly on the Shore", the Alasdair Frasier and Paul Machlis tracks, and the "Cregg's Pipes" set by Tabache. Overall this is a thoroughly enjoyable album. --Jeff Grubb

Toe Tappin' Fun5
If this sort of music doesn't make your feet itch to dance then you had better stay out of the pubs in any once Celtic land.

These are dance pieces that are perfect for putting you in a good mood. Not much singing, mainly instrumentals; this album will make you feel good and sorry you can't play the fiddle or harp!

My one complaint would be that the last two songs are more filler than the rest of the album but yet I listen to them as well when this CD is playing. My favorites are The Landlord's Walk and Spirit of the Gael. Both are quite moving and grand.

If you like the harp, fiddle, accordion and Irish-type music in general you will enjoy this CD.

The Best5
This Irish dance cd is the best. I do riverdance type dancing with my girlfriend and let me tell you this cd is a must buy!

An eclectic collection of traditional and contemporary tunes5
I purchased this after much review on Amazon, and it was exactly what I was looking for. It is a wonderfully varied collection of Irish jigs and reels with some other less traditional but still lovely tunes mixed in. The Amazon previews you can listen to adequately provide samples of the music.

Kim Robertson does a lovely harp piece called Molly on the Shore which has White Coral Bells hummed in the beginning - may sound unusual or even weird, but it really works and it ends up going through my head all day it is so lovely. There are some pieces by John Whelan included as well that get my toes tapping each time I listen to them. What I like best is that none of the songs sound repetitive with one another since there are various artists and music styles presented.

My daughter Irish dances to some, but there is enough variety mixed it that I enjoy just listening to it while making dinner when she takes a break from dancing.
