Customer Reviews

Even if you aren't Irish you'll love these Irish melodies...5
Celtic Favorites, a 16 song set first released in January of 2000, is a wonderful sampler of classic Irish music. Even if you aren't Irish, the lovely Gaelic-tinged melodies will have you smiling and thinking good thoughts.

I have Irish blood running in my veins, and though I have never been to the Emerald Isle, when I listen to this CD I can picture in my mind how it might have been when friends gathered at the local pub or families got together for special occasions such as a wedding or a good Irish wake.
There are songs here that will touch the heart of any son or daughter of Eire, but even if you are only part Irish or not even Irish at all they will touch you. Listen, for instance, to the songs "A Little Bit of Heaven" and "Mountains of the Mourne." They speak of a person's love for his/her Ireland (or in Gaelic, "Erin").

My favorite song on this album is the sentimental ballad "Danny Boy". There are many songs on this CD that touch my heart and make me long to see the homeland of my ancestors. As I listen to Celtic Favorites, my mind goes on a virtual tour of the Emerald Isle. Ah, the wonders that I'd love to see! I want to look at the rolling hills of the countryside, cottages with thatched roofs, and I want to walk along the shoreline.

All the songs on this album are wonderful to hear, but I tend to replay these constantly: " Danny Boy," "Little Bit of Heaven," "Mountains of the Mourne," "The Rose of Tralee," and "I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen."
This CD is wonderful, and if you're Irish, have some Irish ancestry, or just enjoy all kinds of music, you should add this CD to your collection.
