Nice Music Played by Unidentified Talented Amateurs2
I don't know who these "Colors of the World" people are, but their whole method of presentation strikes me as a thin veneer on a fly-by-night profiteering organization hoping to quickly cash in on the World Music craze. The mastering of this CD has to be the most flawed I have ever experienced. Sure, it's inexpensive, but just listen to virtually any Naxos CD to see what can be done on a budget. I don't know where to start, but most importantly, the performers, instruments, and performances are completely uncredited! Anyone care to guess whether the musicians will be receiving any royalties? In addition, the mastering (clearly from an older open-reel tape source) contains buzzes, sizzles, blank spots, an occasional overloaded piano note, and one fewer track than the information-free liner notes claim. However, if you can put up with these flaws, you'll find some fairly delightful music played lovingly and emotionally by what appears to be a talented, well-rehearsed group of semi-professional musicians.

Disappointing1
Gypsies of Russia repeats the same melancholy airs in tune after tune. The gypsies were also passionate people who loved life, but this is not reflected in the CD
